Creating beautiful pieces of jewelry for nearly 40 years, Bill Wirtel, along with daughter, Anna, and son, Miles, join with a team of craftpersons to make beautiful knives. Their studio consists of some who have been with Wirtel for over 25 years. As their motto states, Santa Fe Stoneworks describes their process as "coaxing the soul out of stone, wood, and steel"-producing "future heirlooms". The works use a variety of materials including, stainless steel, Damascus steel, fossilized Wooly Mammoth tusk and tooth, Jet, Malachite, Turquoise, Obsidian, Mother of Pearl, and much more. Each stone, or handle material, is cut and polished by hand, then assembled by hand.
