Steven C. Bronstein is a self-taught blacksmith whose work has evolved from traditional colonial ironwork to his present modern sculptural pieces. Bronstein strives to blend the primitive charm of colonial design and the energy of more contemporary ironwork. He utilizes the qualities that make iron such a beautiful material by creating pieces that are both rugged and delicate.
Bronstein earned a degree in biology from New York State. He moved to northern Vermont and began to develop his artistic abilities. In 1980 he established Blackthorne Forge where he continues to celebrate ironwork through all possibilities of design.
